Kanjeevaram , fabric of the Gods !

The best part about being a designer is that you don't have Monday Blues , but you do have a whole range of Reds , Blues , Greens , Yellows and exciting colours to work with !
  • Today we have just finished making a lovely bright pink blouse for a Kanjeevaram saree with Kundan and sequin hand embroidery. Though a traditional fabric , we styled it in a contemprory way to give it an element of youth . Abhilasha loved the blouse , exactly what she had wanted .
  • In a genuine silk Kanjeevaram saree , the border and the body of the saree are woven separately and then interlocked into each other . The joint is woven so strongly that it does not separate even if the saree tears. Legend has it that silk is the favourite fabric of Lord Vishnu and cotton was preferred by Lord Shiva. The silk weavers of Kanchipuram were the direct descendents of Sage Markanda who is supposed who have woven tissue from Lotus flower . So the next time when you are adorning a Kanjeevaram saree you are not an ordinary mortal but you can believe yourself to be an ' Apsara' from Indralok !
